I remember playing The Neverending Story II: The Arcade Game back in the day. It came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, developed by Merit Studios. It was one of those side-scrolling platformers that felt pretty typical for the era, based on the movie sequel, and it had that familiar DOS look and feel.

You control Bastian, and you move through levels by jumping across platforms, avoiding enemies like giants, and hitting their weak spots to defeat them. The main goal is to progress screen by screen, collecting pages from the book that advance the story. Between levels, you get these cutscenes that retell parts of the film, which was a nice touch. The pacing is fairly straightforward, though some sections can be tricky with precise jumps and enemy patterns. Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
