If your kid loves Thomas the Tank Engine, this little DS game is a solid pick. You get to zip around as Thomas on different tracks, picking up cargo and helping out the other trains—it’s simple, but the bright colors and familiar faces make it feel like an episode of the show. My nephew kept trying to make Thomas crash (of course), but the game gently nudges you back on track if you go off-course.

There are some light puzzles too, like figuring out which route to take or matching cargo, but nothing too stressful. The music’s cheerful in that slightly-too-peppy Thomas way, and the controls are easy enough for small hands. It won’t blow anyone’s mind, but for a licensed kids’ game, it does the job without being annoying to play alongside them.
