Game Overview

V for Victory: Velikiye Luki came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Three-Sixty Pacific, Inc. It was a solid entry in the wave of early computer wargames that asked players to think carefully rather than just click fast. This one focused on a tough, lesser-known battle from the Eastern Front, giving history buffs something gritty to dig into.

You control Soviet and German units, moving them across a hex-based map in freezing conditions. The goal is to outmaneuver and defeat the opposing force while managing supply lines and the harsh winter. Key mechanics include detailed unit facing, terrain effects on movement, and morale checks that can break your lines. The pace is deliberate, almost tense; mistakes cost you dearly, and the AI doesn’t pull punches. It feels like a grim, thoughtful puzzle where survival is never guaranteed.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
