Game Overview

VanSlug - X Mission is one of those MS-DOS games that somehow slipped under the radar back in the day, but man, does it go hard. You jump straight into this side-scrolling bullet hell where everything moves way faster than it has any right to—enemies, explosions, even the screen itself. The first time I played, I got wrecked in like 30 seconds because I wasn’t ready for how aggressive the enemy patterns are.

It’s got that classic arcade feel where you’re juggling between dodging, shooting, and praying your spread gun doesn’t run out of ammo at the worst possible moment. The bosses? Ridiculous in the best way. One minute you’re fighting a tank, the next some giant mech fills half the screen. And yeah, the pixel art is rough in that nostalgic way—like someone cranked the chaos dial to 11 and just ran with it.

If you’re into games that don’t hold your hand and reward memorization (and a little luck), this one’s a time capsule worth digging up. Just don’t blame me when you’re stuck replaying the same level for the 20th time.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
