Game Overview

Voodoo Girl - Queen of the Darned is a 1990s MS-DOS game that came out as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection. It was developed by a small studio, though the name escapes me now. The game fits right into that era of side-scrolling platformers with a dark, quirky aesthetic that was common on the platform.

You control the Voodoo Girl herself, navigating through haunted environments screen by screen. Your main goal is to rescue your kidnapped familiar by defeating enemies and overcoming environmental obstacles. You use a mix of projectile attacks, like throwing bones or casting small curses, and platforming skills to progress. The levels are filled with traps, enemies that respawn, and occasional puzzles that require timing. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be unforgiving, with precise jumps and quick reactions needed to avoid cheap deaths. It feels like a tense, atmospheric crawl through a world that's equal parts charming and frustrating.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
