Game Overview

Warcraft II: Beyond the Dark Portal is the kind of expansion that makes you realize how much you missed the original game. It picks up right after Tides of Darkness—you're either leading the Alliance through the Dark Portal to finish off the orcs for good, or playing as Ner’zhul’s Horde, desperately scavenging Azeroth for artifacts to escape their dying world. The new Draenor tileset alone gives the whole thing a fresh feel, all jagged red rocks and ominous skies.

No new units, but the hero characters (like the ridiculously overpowered Death Knights) shake up your usual build orders. Some of those missions? Brutal. There’s one where you’re defending against wave after wave of gryphon riders while trying to rebuild your gold mines—I may have rage-quit a few times. And yeah, the map editor didn’t get updated, but modders fixed that years ago. If you’ve still got a soft spot for pixelated peons and “zug zug,” this is worth digging out of the DOS archives.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
