Game Overview

Whale’s Voyage is this weird little gem from the MS-DOS era that mashes up a space trading sim, turn-based tactical fights, and classic RPG questing—all while you cruise around in a starship named after a whale. You start by putting together a crew of four, tweaking their looks and skills (I always made one guy terrible at everything just to see what would happen). Then you’re dumped into orbit around Castra, where the game suddenly turns into Elite-lite: buy low, sell high, upgrade your ship, and try not to get wrecked by pirates in these surprisingly deep tactical battles.

But then you beam down to a planet, and bam—it’s an RPG again. NPCs hit you with bizarre side quests like delivering an artificial heart or helping someone find their lost house key (seriously, how do you misplace that in space?). The real kicker? Eventually you get a tiny shuttle that turns the game into a shoot ‘em up when you’re skimming planet surfaces. It shouldn’t work, but somehow the chaos clicks. Just don’t expect anything polished—this is janky, ambitious ‘90s sci-fi at its most charming.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
