Play Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi Online

You’re stuck in a backwater posting after taking the fall for losing the Tiger’s Claw, but when the Kilrathi hit, it’s up to you to claw your way back—dogfighting’s tighter, torpedo runs on capital ships are brutal, and those new animated cutscenes make every victory (or loss) hit harder.

Game Overview

I first played Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi back in 1991, when it came out on MS-DOS. It was developed and published by ORIGIN Systems, Inc., and it really stood out among space combat games of that era. The game picks up right after the original, with humanity still at war with the feline Kilrathi, and it felt like a natural step forward in both storytelling and technical execution.

You play as a pilot in the Terran Confederation, flying a variety of fighters on missions that range from escort duty to full-scale assaults. Your main goal is to push back the Kilrathi threat across several star systems. The game uses a branching mission structure, so your performance in one mission can affect which assignments you get next. Combat involves managing energy between shields, weapons, and engines, and you often face overwhelming odds in dogfights or while trying to take down capital ships with torpedoes. The pacing is intense, and the difficulty can be punishing if you make mistakes. It feels immersive and urgent, especially with the well-integrated cutscenes that give weight to your successes and failures.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
