Game Overview

Winter Challenge came out in 1988 from Accolade, part of that wave of MS-DOS sports games that tried to capture the feel of multi-event competitions. It was a time when games didn't need flashy graphics to hook you; they just needed a solid concept and a decent dose of challenge.

You control an athlete competing in seven winter sports, including downhill skiing, ski jumping, and figure skating. The main objective is to earn the highest total score across all events to win the gold medal. Signature mechanics include timing your key presses for ski jumps to maximize lift and distance, and carefully executing sequences of moves in the figure skating routine without falling. The pacing is brisk, with events moving quickly from one to the next, and the difficulty can be punishing if your timing is off. It feels like a genuine test of coordination and memory, especially when you're trying to nail a perfect run on the bobsled track.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
