Game Overview

Wizard Wars came out in 1993 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games series, published by Apogee Software. It was a time when shareware titles filled disks with experimental ideas, and this one fit right in with its quirky take on fantasy combat. You didn't need a powerful machine to run it, just a willingness to embrace something a little strange and unpredictable.

You control a wizard navigating a series of single-screen dungeons, with the goal of defeating the opposing wizard on each stage. The core of the game is its spell-casting system; you collect reagents like sulfur and mercury to power abilities that range from throwing boulders to creating funhouse mirrors that reflect attacks. The pacing is frantic, as you dodge enemy spells while trying to gather enough resources to cast your own. It feels like a tense, magical chess match where one wrong move can backfire spectacularly.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
