Game Overview

Worms on the Sega Genesis is pure chaotic fun with a side of strategy. You control a team of four little worms taking turns to blast each other off randomly generated maps—forests, deserts, even weird candy landscapes where everything looks edible. The first time I played, I accidentally blew up half my own team with a badly aimed bazooka shot (thanks, wind physics).

Each worm gets one move and one attack per turn—crawl, jump, then pick your weapon. Grenades bounce, dynamite has a fuse, and the fire punch is just ridiculous (in the best way). Miss your shot? Tough luck, your turn’s over. Fall off a cliff? Instant KO. The terrain gets absolutely wrecked as you play, leaving craters and tunnels everywhere. Also, worms explode when they die, which is both hilarious and devastating if you’re standing too close.

It’s simple to learn but secretly deep—you’ll start memorizing weapon arcs and wind patterns after a few matches. And with four-player mode, it turns into a glorious mess of shouting and accidental suicides. One of those games where losing is almost as fun as winning.
