Game Overview

I first encountered A Quick Run Around the House on one of those MS-DOS Classic Games compilations, a zero-numbered release that bundled it with other simple, often homebrew titles from the era. It was developed by a small team whose name I can't recall now, but it fit right in with the kind of experimental, low-budget games people shared on floppies back then.

You control a frantic character, usually a kid, trying to dash from one end of a house to the other. The main goal is to reach the exit in the fastest time possible while navigating a series of obstacle-filled rooms. You jump over scattered toys, slide under low furniture, and dodge rogue pet cats that dart across your path. The game progresses screen by screen, each room presenting a new layout of hazards to memorize. The pacing is relentless; one mistimed jump onto a slippery rug or a poorly judged vault over a sofa sends you tumbling, resetting your progress with a comical sound effect. It feels like a mad, breathless scramble against your own clumsy momentum.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
