Game Overview

All-Star Baseball 2002 on GameCube is one of those solid baseball sims that doesn’t overcomplicate things. You’ve got the full MLB rosters from the 2001-2002 season, plus a bunch of legends like Nolan Ryan if you want to mix eras—which, honestly, is half the fun. Creating your own player feels a little basic, but tweaking their stats and watching them develop over a season is weirdly satisfying.

The batting system takes a second to get used to—you’re moving a cursor to line up your swing, and deciding between power hits or more precise contact swings. Pitchers have up to six different pitches, so you’ve got to pay attention to what’s coming. Fielding’s either fully manual (good luck) or automatic if you just want to focus on hitting dingers in Home Run Derby mode. It’s not the flashiest baseball game out there, but it gets the job done.
