Amazing Island came out on the GameCube in 2004, developed by Sega. It was one of those odd, creative titles that felt right at home on the system, a platform known for its mix of polished first party games and these wonderfully strange experiments. You don't see many games built entirely around the concept of building a monster and then testing it in silly competitions.

You control a creature you build yourself from a huge assortment of parts, like mismatched eyes, wings, and legs. The main objective is to guide your creation through a series of minigames and obstacle courses to collect Spirit Orbs and defeat the game's antagonist, the evil Zord. The signature mechanics are the deep monster creator, where you physically attach parts and test their movement, and the variety of events that test your creation's abilities, from racing to flying to sumo wrestling. The pacing is relaxed, more about experimentation and seeing what hilarious failure your monster will have next rather than punishing difficulty. It feels like playing in a digital sandbox with a bunch of bizarre toys you made yourself.
