Play Battletoads on GB Online

Battletoads on the Game Boy came out in 1991, developed by Rare and published by Tradewest. It was part of that wave of arcade-style brawlers and platformers trying to fit a big screen experience into a pocket format, a common challenge for handheld games at the time.

You control one of the three Battletoads, usually Zitz, moving through side-scrolling stages to rescue your captured comrades. The main objective is to fight through waves of enemies, navigate environmental hazards, and defeat bosses. Signature mechanics include morphing your limbs into giant hammers or claws for powerful attacks, and piloting a speeder bike through obstacle-heavy racing sections. The pacing is relentless, and the difficulty is notoriously high, demanding precise jumps and quick reactions. It feels like a constant, frantic scramble where every small victory is hard-won.
