Okay, so Captain Commando on Neo Geo is basically pure, uncut arcade chaos. You pick one of four ridiculous characters (my favorite’s the baby in a mech suit, obviously) and just start punching, slashing, and shooting through waves of neon thugs. No tutorials, no deep lore, just you, a joystick, and that sweet, sweet combo counter.

The first level throws you right into a city under siege, and within seconds you’re juggling enemies in the air, setting dudes on fire with a flamethrower, or accidentally blowing up your co-op partner because the screen’s too crowded. The Neo Geo version keeps all the over-the-top animations intact, watch as goons melt into skeletons or your character does a victory pose mid-combo. It’s stupid, loud, and exactly what you’d want from a 90s arcade port.

Secret power-ups are hidden in destructible scenery, and good luck finding them all before the timer runs out. This isn’t the kind of game you play for a chill evening, it’s the one you boot up when you need to turn your brain off and punch a cyborg dinosaur.
