Game Overview

Castles II: Siege & Conquest came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Quicksilver Software and published by Interplay. It was a strategy title from an era when managing resources and territory felt new and demanding, especially for players used to simpler action games.

You control a noble house, managing resources like grain and gold while training troops and constructing castle defenses. The main goal is to conquer rival territories through careful planning and direct combat. Key mechanics include real-time sieges where you command units in battle, and a political layer where you must maintain favor with the Pope and other powers to avoid excommunication or betrayal. The pacing is deliberate, and the difficulty can be punishing if you neglect diplomacy or logistics. It feels tense and absorbing to balance so many threats at once.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
