Play Chessmaster (F)(Patience) Online
The AI actually thinks like a human—you’ll catch yourself leaning in when it falls for your knight trap. Those puzzles wreck you, then make you grin when you finally crack them.

Game Overview
Chessmaster for the GBA is one of those rare handheld ports that actually gets chess right. The AI doesn’t just brute-force difficulty—it plays like a real opponent, adjusting to your moves while still leaving room for those satisfying "aha" moments when you trap their queen. I lost way too many lunch breaks to this.
The Patience mode is great if you’re learning or just want to stare at the board for 20 minutes deciding whether to push a pawn. Tutorials explain openings without drowning you in theory, and the puzzles? Some of them feel downright cruel (in a good way). Graphics are basic, but the pieces have this chunky, readable charm that works perfectly on the tiny screen.
Still my go-to travel chess game when I don’t want to burn my phone battery. Just don’t blame me when you miss your stop because you’re too busy setting up a sneaky fork.
