Game Overview

Cisco Heat came out in 1991 for MS-DOS, published by Image Works. It was one of those early racing games that tried to capture the feel of high speed chases on home computers, using a pseudo-3D perspective that was common for the time. You weren't driving exotic supercars; you were behind the wheel of a police cruiser, and the setting was a surprisingly detailed rendition of San Francisco's famously steep streets.

You control a police car racing against a clock through a series of checkpoint stages. The main objective is simply to finish each course before time expires, navigating sharp turns and sudden drops. Key mechanics include using your horn to physically push civilian cars out of your path, managing your speed carefully to avoid losing control on the steep hills, and hitting checkpoints to add precious seconds to the clock. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty comes from the unforgiving physics and tight time limits. It feels like a constant, tense battle against both the clock and the road itself.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
