Game Overview

I remember picking up Comanche: Maximum Overkill back in 1992, a time when MS-DOS games were really pushing what PCs could do. It was developed by NovaLogic, and it stood out because it used voxel graphics instead of polygons, which gave the terrain a blocky but surprisingly realistic look for its era. This wasn't just another flight sim; it felt like a step into something more immersive, more tangible.

You pilot an RAH-66 Comanche helicopter through a series of missions, taking out enemy tanks, SAM sites, and other threats across varied landscapes. The main objective is usually to destroy all targets in an area while avoiding getting shot down. Signature mechanics include navigating using a detailed terrain map, locking onto enemies with different weapon systems like Hellfire missiles, and managing your helicopter's systems under pressure. The pacing is intense; you're constantly scanning for threats and reacting quickly to incoming fire. It feels raw and demanding, like every decision matters in the heat of combat.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
