Game Overview

Overkill was a shareware title released in 1992 by Epic MegaGames, back when MS-DOS was the dominant platform for PC gaming. It arrived during a period when top-down shooters were common, offering a straightforward but intense experience that felt right at home on a 386 or 486 machine. The game didn't try to reinvent the wheel, but it delivered a focused dose of action that was perfect for a quick session after school or work.

You control a lone soldier viewed from above, moving through a series of maze-like levels filled with enemy soldiers, robots, and turrets. Your main objective is simply to survive each screen, clearing all hostiles to proceed to the next area. Signature mechanics include collecting a variety of weapon power-ups, from spread shots to homing missiles, and managing your limited ammunition for each gun. The pacing is relentless; enemies spawn quickly and attack from all directions, making careful movement and rapid aiming essential. It feels like a constant, tense scramble for better firepower and a moment to breathe.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
