Cosmic Ark came out in 1982 for the Atari 2600, published by Imagic. It was part of that wave of early 80s games where developers were really stretching what the system could do, trying to build deeper experiences with the hardware they had.

You pilot a ship shaped like a spinning diamond, first navigating through a field of meteors by firing shots to clear a path. Once you reach a planet, you lower a beam to abduct pairs of creatures while avoiding laser fire from defensive turrets. The challenge comes from managing both phases: dodging in space, then timing your movements on the surface. It feels tense and deliberate, like a careful rescue operation under constant threat.
