Game Overview

Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender came out in 1992 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, published by MicroProse. It was a point-and-click adventure from an era when these games often relied on strange humor and convoluted logic, and it fit right in with the oddball charm of early '90s PC gaming.

You control Rex, a space adventurer whose mission goes sideways when an alien device accidentally swaps his gender, sending him on a quest to reverse the change. Gameplay involves moving screen by screen, collecting items, and solving puzzles that range from clever to downright obscure. Combat is minimal; the focus is on dialogue, inventory use, and exploring colorful, sometimes surreal environments. The pacing can be slow, and some puzzles are notoriously illogical, demanding patience or a walkthrough. Playing it feels like untangling a deliberately silly, occasionally frustrating web of jokes and surprises.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
