Game Overview

Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender is one of those weird, wonderful MS-DOS adventures that somehow slipped under the radar. You play as Rex, a spacefaring schmuck who gets zapped by an alien device and suddenly finds himself... well, let's just say his pants don't fit right anymore. What follows is a gloriously stupid odyssey across planets full of talking mushrooms, bureaucratic robots, and puzzles that make zero sense until you're halfway through your third cup of coffee.

The humor's got that same self-aware, slightly raunchy vibe as Space Quest, but with more awkward body-swap jokes. I still remember getting stuck for an hour trying to bribe a sentient vending machine with the wrong kind of currency—turns out intergalactic laundromats have very specific tastes. The pixel art's charmingly janky, and some of the solutions are so ridiculous you'll either groan or applaud when they work.

It's definitely a product of its time (some jokes haven't aged gracefully), but if you miss the days when adventure games didn't take themselves seriously, this one's a trip. Just don't expect the gender-bending premise to go anywhere profound—it's mostly an excuse for bad puns and inventory puzzles involving alien lingerie.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
