Cosmic Commuter came out in 1984 for the Atari 2600, developed by Activision. It was one of those later releases that tried to squeeze a bit more life out of the aging console, offering a simple but distinct take on the rescue and survival genre that was common at the time.
You pilot a small shuttle that must land on platforms to pick up stranded astronauts, then lift off and deliver them to a waiting mothership. The challenge comes from managing your limited fuel while avoiding enemy fire and navigating tight landing zones; a mistimed descent or ascent often ends in a fiery crash. The pace is relentless, with fuel draining quickly and hazards increasing as you progress, making each successful delivery a tense relief. It feels like a race against your own mistakes as much as the game's obstacles.
