If you loved Final Fantasy VII, Crisis Core is like getting a backstage pass to Zack Fair’s story—the guy Cloud kinda owes everything to. It’s got that same moody, industrial-meets-magic vibe, but with faster, punchier combat where you’re rolling and slashing in real time instead of waiting for turn bars to fill.
The cutscenes still hold up surprisingly well for a PSP game, especially the way they weave in familiar faces like Sephiroth and Aerith before everything went sideways. The DMW slot machine mechanic for limit breaks seems weird at first, but after a few fights, you’ll be weirdly into watching those reels spin mid-battle.
Just… maybe keep tissues handy for the last act.
