I picked up Cubix: Robots for Everyone - Race 'n Robots for the Game Boy Color back in 2001. It was published by Blitz Games and tied into the animated series, which was pretty popular at the time. On a system filled with platformers and RPGs, this was one of the few racing titles that tried something different, letting you control robots instead of cars. It wasn't the most polished racer on the platform, but it had its own charm.

You choose from a few blocky robots, each with slightly different handling, and race through futuristic tracks against other bots. The main goal is straightforward: finish first in a series of cups. The controls are simple, relying on acceleration and steering, but timing your use of speed boosts is crucial; hit them right and you get a burst, miss and you lose momentum. The AI racers rubberband aggressively, so even if you crash, you can usually catch up before the final lap. It feels a little clunky and unpredictable, but there's a odd satisfaction in nudging rivals off the track and sliding around corners.
