Game Overview

I first played Dig Dug on MS-DOS back in the 1980s, part of a collection of classic games released around 1983. It was originally developed by Namco, and on the PC, it felt right at home among the simple, focused arcade-style games of the era. You didn't need a fancy setup; just a keyboard and a little patience were enough to get started.

You control a little digger named Taizo Hori, and your job is to clear each screen of enemies by either inflating them with a pump until they burst or by dropping rocks on them from above. The digging itself is methodical; you carve paths through soft earth while avoiding Pookas and Fygars, who follow you through the tunnels you create. The pace starts slow but quickly becomes frantic as more enemies appear and your escape routes narrow. It's a game of pressure and clever positioning, and even with its straightforward mechanics, every screen demands quick thinking and careful movement. There's a real satisfaction in luring an enemy under a boulder or trapping them in a dead end with your pump.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
