Game Overview

Okay, so Dinosaur on Game Boy Color—this one’s a weird little time capsule. You’re basically tossed into a chunky pixel world full of volcanoes, t-rexes, and those weird pterodactyls that move in janky loops. The controls are stiff in that classic early-GBC way, but once you get used to it, there’s something weirdly satisfying about hopping over lava pits while a MIDI version of what I think is supposed to be jungle drums plays in the background.

It’s not deep, but it’s got that "one more try" energy when you barely miss a jump or get sniped by a dinosaur you didn’t see coming. The colors pop in that over-saturated GBC style—lots of neon greens and oranges—and the levels are just the right length for playing in short bursts. Found it in a bargain bin years ago and still boot it up when I want something simple and loud.

Definitely not a masterpiece, but if you like rough-around-the-edges retro platformers, this one’s got charm. Just don’t expect a manual or any explanation for why there’s a random cave full of floating fruit.
