Dragon Ball Kai - Saiyajin Raishuu throws you right into the chaos of the Dragon Ball universe on the DS. You start off picking between Goku, Vegeta, and a few others—each with their own move sets that actually feel different. The sprites are chunky but surprisingly fluid when you pull off a Kamehameha or dodge at the last second.

Battles are a mix of button-mashing and timing your specials right—mess up, and you’ll eat a Galick Gun to the face. There’s something satisfying about landing a perfect combo and seeing the health bar drop. And yeah, it’s in Japanese, but the menus aren’t too hard to figure out if you’ve played a fighting game before.

It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but if you just wanna relive those anime moments with some decent handheld brawling, this does the trick. The energy blasts even make the little DS speakers crackle.
