Play Dragon Ball Z - Chou Gokuuden - Totsugeki Hen (Japan) Online

You play Goku’s story through card battles—slap down Kamehamehas, dodge Galick Guns, and figure out the janky translations as you go. The pixel art pops when big attacks hit, and somehow, shuffling cards feels as tense as a beam struggle.

Game Overview

Dragon Ball Z: Chou Gokuuden - Totsugeki Hen is one of those weird little SNES games that makes you go, "Wait, this exists?" It's a card-based RPG where you play through Goku's story, but instead of punching your way through fights, you're slapping down cards for attacks, blocks, and dodges. At first, I thought it'd feel slow, but nope—watching Vegeta charge up a Galick Gun while you scramble to counter with a well-timed Kamehameha card is surprisingly intense.

The pixel art nails that classic DBZ look, especially when special moves light up the screen. And yeah, it's definitely janky in that 90s-JRPG-translation way (good luck figuring out some card effects without trial and error), but that's part of the charm. If you've burned through all the usual DBZ fighters and want something different, this is the kind of obscure gem worth digging up.
