Game Overview

Dragonball Advanced Adventure is one of those GBA gems that somehow flew under the radar. It covers the early Dragon Ball days—you know, back when Goku was still a kid with a tail—all the way up to the King Piccolo showdown. The cool part? It mixes up gameplay styles: most levels are classic side-scrolling beat 'em ups, some have you flying through the air dodging projectiles, and boss fights switch to a proper one-on-one fighting game mode.

There’s a surprising amount of depth here—30 characters to unlock across different modes, and the story mode’s 16 levels actually feel varied. I spent way too much time hunting for hidden Dragon Balls and power-ups that unlock new moves (because of course I needed to spam Kamehamehas as early as possible). The story takes some liberties with the original manga, but honestly, it keeps things interesting if you already know how it all goes down.

Even if you’re not big on Dragon Ball, the gameplay holds up—it’s just a really solid action game with enough nostalgia and surprises to keep you hooked. Definitely worth dusting off your GBA for.
