Dungeons & Dragons Tactics came out for the PlayStation Portable in 2007, developed by Kuju Entertainment and published by Atari. It was one of the few attempts to bring a full, turn-based D&D experience to a handheld during the PSP's lifespan, offering a portable version of the tabletop rules without needing a group or a dungeon master.

You control a custom party of up to six characters, moving them on a grid across a series of linked battle screens. The main goal is to complete quests by defeating enemies, navigating traps, and occasionally solving environmental puzzles. Combat uses the D&D 3.5 Edition rules, so positioning, flanking, and managing action points are critical; your fighter holds the line while your cleric heals and your archer picks off targets from a distance. The game can be slow and methodical, demanding careful planning with each turn, and the difficulty is unapologetic, especially for players unfamiliar with the rule set. It feels like playing a strict, solo session of D&D where every decision carries weight.
