Game Overview

I picked up Dynasty Warriors for the PSP back in 2005, a portable version of the console hit from Omega Force and Koei. It was one of those games that made the handheld feel surprisingly capable, letting you carry the massive battlefields of the Three Kingdoms era in your pocket. For its time, it stood out simply by offering that kind of scale on a device you could take anywhere.

You control a general from Chinese history, like Lu Bu or Zhao Yun, and your main goal is to capture enemy bases and defeat opposing officers to turn the tide of large-scale battles. The combat revolves around stringing together combos with your weapon to cut down dozens of soldiers at once; you also manage morale by securing key points on the map and occasionally call for support from allied troops. The pace is fast and relentless, with constant pressure to push forward before your main camp falls. It feels empowering to plow through waves of enemies, even if the mission objectives sometimes blur together after a while.
