Game Overview

Fantasy General is one of those old-school MS-DOS strategy games that still holds up if you're into deep, turn-based tactics. You pick a side—Good or Evil—and lead armies across these gorgeous hex maps filled with everything from knights to dragons. The units feel alive, too—most squads have 15 soldiers moving as one, except heroes and weird mechanical stuff, which are lone wolves.

The campaign’s the real meat of it. You choose one of four heroes (I always went for the dwarf general—his artillery units wreck face) and slowly take back the world from the Shadowlord’s generals. It’s satisfying to liberate each continent, though that final showdown at Fire Isle is no joke—bring your A-game.

It’s like Panzer General’s fantasy cousin, but with way more personality. Just don’t expect quick skirmishes—this one’s for settling in and planning every move.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
