Game Overview

Final Fantasy, originally released by Square for the Nintendo Entertainment System, is a foundational turn based RPG from the late 1980s. Grond's v1.5 hack, often called Final Fantasy Plus Plus, modifies that original release, aiming to refine the experience while preserving its core structure and the distinct feel of an NES era adventure.

You control a party of four characters, chosen from six classic jobs, navigating an overworld and delving into dungeons one step at a time. Your main objective is to restore light to the world by defeating the four elemental fiends. Signature mechanics include managing a large, often cryptic spell list and equipping your party with progressively stronger weapons and armor found in towns or on defeated enemies. The pacing is improved from the original, with reduced grinding, but the game retains a methodical, sometimes punishing difficulty rooted in resource management. It feels like a more focused version of a classic, where your strategic choices in building a party and preparing for each new area carry more weight.
