Final Fantasy V Advance (EU) is one of those RPGs that feels simple at first but gets surprisingly deep once you start messing with the job system. The first few hours are mostly about figuring out how classes like Knight and White Mage work, but soon you're mixing abilities in weird ways, like a Monk who can cast spells or a Thief with heavy armor.
I remember grinding near the first town, trying to unlock the Blue Mage job, only to get wrecked by some random enemy that had a spell I needed. The game doesn't hold your hand, and sometimes you just have to stumble into things. The new jobs like Cannoneer and Necromancer add some fun twists, though they take a while to unlock.
The GBA version's extra dungeon is brutal, especially the later floors. Enuo, the new boss, feels like a proper challenge if you're into that. The quick-save helps since the game's still a bit of a time sink. Final Fantasy V Advance (EU) holds up well, even if the graphics are obviously dated.
