Final Fantasy V is one of those SNES RPGs that doesn’t get enough love—probably because it never got an official English release back in the day. But man, the fan translation here is solid, and the game itself is a gem. You start as Bartz, this wandering adventurer who stumbles into a bigger mess than he bargained for when the world’s crystals start cracking. Classic FF setup, but the real magic is in the Job system.

You’ll switch between classes like Knight, Black Mage, or even weird ones like Beastmaster, mixing and matching abilities to make your party unstoppable. At first, I just stuck with the basics, but halfway through, I had a Samurai throwing out dual-wielded katanas while my Blue Mage absorbed enemy spells. It’s ridiculous in the best way.

The story’s lighter than, say, FFIV or VI, but there’s charm in how goofy it gets—like a talking turtle dragon named Hiryu. If you’re into old-school RPGs with deep customization, this one’s a must-play.
