Play Final Fantasy VI Advance Online

You start as soldiers in a snowstorm, then suddenly you're planning an opera heist or chatting with a philosophical yeti—the Esper system lets you break the game in hilarious ways, and Kefka's madness never gets old. Those new dungeons? Pure pain (the good kind).

Game Overview

Final Fantasy VI Advance takes everything that made the original SNES classic legendary and squeezes it into your Game Boy Advance without losing an ounce of its soul. You start off controlling a couple of magitek-armored soldiers in a snowy mountain pass, and within an hour you're orchestrating an opera house heist or debating philosophy with a yeti. The pixel art somehow looks even crisper here, and the new translation gives characters like Locke and Celes way more personality.

What really surprised me was how well the game holds up—the Esper system lets you mold your party however you want (I made Gau into an unstoppable magic beast), and Kefka remains one of gaming's most entertainingly unhinged villains. The added dungeons are brutal in the best way, especially if you thought the original endgame was too easy. Just try not to get the opera theme stuck in your head for days.
