Play Garou Densetsu Special (Japan) Online

Dodging between planes to land Terry’s Burn Knuckle feels way smoother now, and finally getting to play as Krauser’s ridiculous uppercut makes all those boss fights worth it. That stage with the rowdy crowd pelting you with trash never gets old.

Game Overview

Garou Densetsu Special came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, developed by Takara. It was one of the many fighting games on the system, a time when the genre was really finding its footing on home consoles.

You control one of several fighters, each with their own special moves, and face off against opponents in one-on-one battles. The main goal is to win matches and progress through the tournament. The game uses a two-plane system, letting you sidestep attacks by hopping between foreground and background; combos are simpler here than in later entries, but timing still matters. It moves at a steady pace, not too fast or slow, and the difficulty feels fair for the most part. Landing a well-timed Power Geyser or cracking through a block with a desperation move gives a solid sense of payoff.
