Golden Axe on the Master System is that classic barbarian brawler you probably remember from arcades or the Genesis—just a little scaled down. You pick between a sword-swinging warrior, an axe-wielding dwarf, or a magic-heavy amazon, then hack through waves of skeletons and lizard riders. The magic system’s simpler here, but landing a full combo on some armored goon still feels great.

It’s got that old-school difficulty where enemies love to gang up on you, but the screen-by-screen progression keeps things manageable. The music’s chunky and the sprites are tiny compared to the arcade version, but hey—it’s still Golden Axe in your living room.
