Key mechanics include attacking with your weapon, using magic spells that drain collected magic potions (stolen from little gnome-like thieves who scurry across the screen), and even mounting creatures like fire-breathing dragons or chicken-legged beasts that you can ride temporarily. The pacing is brisk, and the difficulty can feel punishing if you try to go it alone; enemies gang up quickly, and your health depletes fast.
