Game Overview

Gremlins on MS-DOS was part of the MS-DOS Classic Games collection, a release that bundled several titles from the platform's early years. Developed by Atari and published by Mindscape, it arrived during a time when many games were still figuring out how to translate movie licenses into interactive experiences. It wasn't a technical showcase, but it had a certain charm that fit right in with the era's experimental spirit.

You control either a gremlin causing havoc or the homeowner trying to stop them. The main objective is straightforward: as the gremlin, you run through the house breaking things and multiplying; as the human, you frantically try to exterminate them before they overrun everything. Key mechanics include flooding rooms by sabotaging sinks to slow down pursuers, and avoiding light sources which can stun or destroy the creatures. The pacing is frantic, and the difficulty spikes quickly as more gremlins spawn, leading to screen-filling chaos. It feels like managing a cartoon disaster that's always on the verge of collapsing into pure silliness.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
