Game Overview

Heroes of the Lance on MS-DOS is one of those games that feels like it was pulled straight from a well-worn D&D campaign notebook. You start off picking your party from classic Dragonlance characters—Raistlin’s frail but terrifying with his spells, while Caramon just smashes things with a sword. No hand-holding here, either. The dungeons are dark, full of hidden switches, and crawling with monsters that’ll wreck you if you charge in blindly.

The turn-based combat makes every move tense—do you heal now or risk one more attack? And yeah, the graphics are rough by today’s standards, but there’s a weird charm to the chunky sprites and eerie synth soundtrack. Just don’t expect it to go easy on you. This is the kind of game where forgetting to save means losing an hour of progress to a lucky kobold crit.

If you’ve got nostalgia for late ‘80s RPGs or just love a tactical challenge, it’s a fascinating relic. Just keep your spellbook handy and maybe a walkthrough too.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
