Play Heroes of the Lance on Msdos Online

Heroes of the Lance came out in 1988 as part of the MS-DOS Classic Games lineup, developed by Strategic Simulations, Inc. It was a time when dungeon crawlers were often unforgiving, and this one fit right in with its dark, grid-based visuals and reliance on the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Dragonlance setting. You didn't get much hand-holding back then; the game expected you to figure things out or fail trying.

You control a party of eight pre-made characters, each with distinct abilities like Raistlin's spellcasting or Caramon's brute strength. The goal is to navigate through the cursed city of Xak Tsaroth, clearing it room by room of monsters and retrieving the Disks of Mishakal. Combat is turn-based, requiring tactical positioning and careful management of limited spells and health. Exploration happens screen by screen, with secret doors to find and treasure to hoard. The pacing is deliberate, almost slow, and the difficulty can be punishing if you rush in unprepared. It feels like a methodical, sometimes grueling test of patience and party management.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
