Game Overview

IndyCar Racing II is one of those old-school MS-DOS racers that still holds up if you're into sim-style driving. It's the sequel to Papyrus' first IndyCar game, but thanks to some real-world licensing drama, it got re-released as CART Racing a year later—same game, just a name swap.

You’ve got a solid lineup of '90s-era cars—Lolas, Reynards, Penskes—with engines from Ford-Cosworth, Honda, and Mercedes. The handling feels weighty, like you’re actually wrestling with downforce, and the AI drivers don’t just roll over. Missing Indy and Miami’s road course stings, but there’s still 15 tracks to burn rubber on, including some tight street circuits that’ll test your patience. If you can get past the pixelated graphics, it’s surprisingly deep for a mid-‘90s racer.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
