Game Overview

International Open Golf Championship is one of those MS-DOS games that somehow makes hitting a tiny pixel ball feel like a high-stakes drama. You start off thinking, "How hard can it be?"—then the wind kicks in, your shot veers wildly off course, and suddenly you're three strokes over par, cursing at your keyboard. The greens look like they were painted in MS Paint (because they probably were), but there's something weirdly satisfying about nailing a long putt with those chunky, blocky graphics.

What I love is how simple it is—no fancy cutscenes or commentary, just you, the course, and that little meter you have to time perfectly. Mess up, and the game doesn’t sugarcoat it; you’ll watch your ball plop straight into a water hazard with zero sympathy. But when you finally get the hang of judging slopes and wind speed, pulling off a perfect shot feels like a mini victory. It’s the kind of game where you’ll lose an hour without realizing it, just trying to shave one more stroke off your score.

If you’ve ever played any old-school golf sims, this one’s a must—it’s janky in all the right ways, and weirdly more fun than some modern over-polished golf games. Just don’t blame me when you start dreaming in pixelated fairways.

Each game uses different controls, most DOS games use the keyboard arrows. Some will use the mouse , "Alt" ,"Enter" and "Space bar".
