Game Overview
Jeff Gordon XS Racing on Game Boy Color is... well, it's exactly what it sounds like—a stripped-down version of the PC game, but hey, it’s NASCAR in your pocket. You pick from five cars (none of them handle great, but that’s half the fun) and either go for time trials or dive straight into the Championship Mode.
The tracks are surprisingly chaotic for a GBC game—mess up a jump or clip the edge of a turn, and you’ll be eating dirt while the pack zooms past. There’s something weirdly satisfying about barely scraping through a season, only to have Jeff Gordon himself show up at the end to race you. And if you’ve got a buddy with a link cable, you can drag them into the mess too.
It’s not the deepest racing sim, but for a quick dose of late-'90s NASCAR nostalgia, it does the job.
