Play Karate Online
Dodge, punch, and kick your way to victory in Karate on Atari 2600, where you face off against opponents in quick, chaotic matches.
Karate came out for the Atari 2600 in 1982, published by Ultravision. It was one of the early attempts to bring a fighting game to the system, back when most games were still about shooting aliens or bouncing a ball.
You control a stick figure martial artist, moving left and right to face off against an opponent. The goal is to land enough hits to knock them down before they do the same to you. You throw high and low punches and kicks, blocking with a separate button. Matches are fast and simple, with a lot of frantic button mashing. It feels like a clumsy but earnest brawl, especially when playing with a friend.
