Game Overview

Killer Satellites is one of those classic Atari 2600 games that starts simple but gets brutal fast. You're in this experimental fighter defending your hometown from killer satellites falling from orbit—apparently they got bored of space and decided to ruin everyone's day.

At first it's just dodging and shooting, but then you realize your laser overheats if you spam shots, and fuel runs out way faster than you'd expect. The radar helps, but sometimes three satellites drop at once and you're scrambling to intercept them before they punch through the town's shield (which, by the way, will wreck your ship if you bump into it—learned that the hard way).

Around level 3, meteors show up just to mess with you. Can't shoot 'em, can't let 'em hit you, but at least they won't destroy the town. It's the kind of game where you'll swear you had fuel left, but nope—game over. The challenge keeps you coming back, though. That or sheer stubbornness.
