Lightning Fighters is one of those classic arcade shooters where you're immediately thrown into the action—no tutorials, no hand-holding, just you and a tiny ship against waves of enemies. The first level eases you in with some basic fighters, but by stage three, you're dodging bullets while trying to grab those sweet power-ups. The blue laser cuts straight through everything, but I always had a soft spot for the serpent blaster—it weaves through enemies like fire.

Boss fights are where things get really tense. They take up half the screen, and their attack patterns keep you guessing. And just when you think you've mastered it, the game loops back around with everything moving faster and hitting harder. It's the kind of game where one credit lasts five minutes if you're lucky, but you'll slam another coin in anyway.

Konami nailed that arcade feel—simple to pick up, brutally hard to put down.
