Game Overview

Maniac Mansion is this weird, hilarious point-and-click adventure from the late '80s where you control a bunch of teenagers trying to rescue their friend from a mad scientist's creepy mansion. I love how you can pick different characters at the start—each has their own weird skills, like the punk kid who can fix radios or the nerdy guy who hacks computers. The puzzles are totally bizarre (why is there a sentient meteor in the basement?), but that's part of the charm. Just don't microwave the hamster.

It's one of those games where you'll poke at everything, combine random items in your inventory, and occasionally get jumpscared by a talking tentacle. The NES version tones down some of the weirder stuff but keeps that classic Lucasfilm humor. If you like adventure games with more personality than polish, this one's a trip.
